Boise State University’s
Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Human Rights celebration planning committee is
looking for students and community members to help organize the 2004 event. The
committee will select a theme and form subcommittees in the following areas:
entertainment, student essay contest, volunteer project, march and rally,
celebration dinner, educational workshops and keynote speaker.
The goal of the Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Celebration is to
provide Boise State students, as well as residents of the community and state,
with programs that educate on issues of diversity and multiculturalism. The
committee believes that education must be accompanied by social activism in
celebration of King’s vision. Over the years, this has led to partnerships with
campus and community human rights organizations in an effort to enhance racial
tolerance in Idaho.
