Boise's First 'Queer As Film' Festival Planned Oct. 9-11

Boise's first lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)
film festival will be held Oct. 9-11. "Queer as Film" will feature
more than 25 independent, feature length and short films
highlighting LGBT-related themes.
Opening night, Thursday, Oct. 9, features a reception at 6 p.m. at
The Flicks, 646 Fulton St., followed by a special screening of
Sherman Alexie's "The Business of Fancy Dancing" at 7 p.m. The
series continues Friday and Saturday with programs at the Boise
State University Special Events Center.
Tickets are $3 per film for students and $5 for the general public
and are available at the Boise State Student Union Information
Desk, the Record Exchange, the Flying M Coffee Shop and The
Community Center. Tickets for the complete program are $18,
excluding opening night.
The schedule for the Special Events Center is as follows:
Friday, Oct. 10
- "Live Nude Girls Unite" screening, 7 p.m.
- "Boy Trouble," boys shorts program, 9 p.m.
- "Maybe Something Campy," The Cockettes, 11 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 11
- "Celluloid Closet" screening, noon, FREE, followed by a panel
discussion by Boise State faculty members.
- "Lan Yu," 3 p.m.
- "The Female Closet" screening, 5 p.m.
- "Chicklettes," girls shorts program, 7 p.m.
- "Ch-Ch-Changes," transgender themed program, 9 p.m.
The film festival is presented by the Boise State Cultural and
Ethnic Diversity Board, the Boise State Women's Center, The
Community Center, Amnesty International Boise State chapter, the
Emerald City Club, the Boise State art department, BGLAD and the
Idaho Progressive Student Alliance. For more information, call
