Vincent Kituku Named Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal

The Boise State University Alumni Association has selected author and educator Vincent Kituku as grand marshal of the 2003 Homecoming parade. Kituku is being honored because of the work he has done with the Bronco football team, encouraging and motivating players throughout the years.

“Vincent has been a powerful force in educating our athletes on success in life,” said Bronco coach Dan Hawkins.

A native of Kenya, Africa, Kituku employs African folklore and wisdom with modern cultural influences into his delivery of stories to provide a sense of global awareness for his listeners. His gift of storytelling has made Kituku one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in Boise.

Kituku’s writing can be found internationally in numerous daily, weekly and monthly publications of both traditional and electronic venues, including Zidaho.com. Kituku currently serves as an adjunct professor at Boise State and is the author of “East African Folktales For All Ages” and other books. He currently serves as a board member of the Idaho Governor’s Coordinating Council for Families and Children. Kituku is the host of “Buffaloes in Our Lives,” a weekly radio program aired in the Northwest on KBOI 670 AM Saturdays at 7 a.m. He is also the editor of the “Buffaloes in Our Lives” newsletter.

The Homecoming parade will be 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10. It will start at Towers Hall and continue downtown along Idaho Street.
