Boise State Alumni Association Plans Festivities For Homecoming - Oct. 11

Calling all Boise State University alumni. Special events at the 2003 Homecoming Roundup on Oct. 11 at Boise State will include:

  • recognition for the Golden Grads, the class of 1953
  • a reunion of alums who worked on the school newspaper, which is celebrating its 70-year anniversary;
  • tents and activities set up for each of Boise States eight colleges so alumni can reconnect with classmates and reminisce with about those days in statistics class or English 101;
  • activities for all Bronco supporters and their families and friends including a Bronco Bash Tailgate Party, sponsored by Courtyard Marriot, and the traditional homecoming chili feed, sponsored by the national award-winning Student Alumni Association.

Everyone is welcome at all events, whether an alumni, family member or Bronco fan. To make it convenient for out-of-town alumni to travel home for the festivities and football game, Southwest Airlines is offering a discount on airfare. Call the Alumni Association at 208 426-1698 for details or visit alumni.boisestate.edu.

Celebrations on Oct. 11 will be centered around the Boise State Alumni Center, 1173 University Drive, across from Bronco Stadium. The popular percussion artists Rhythm Dogs will perform at 4:30 p.m. Participants can also enjoy music from KISSIN 92 radio, Bronco prizes, face painting and a visit from Buster Bronco and the Boise State cheerleaders.

Admission to the tailgate party is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from TableRock BrewPub and Texas Roadhouse. The chili feed will cost $5.50. Bronco Shop merchandise will also be for sale.

Orange attire is encouraged, as the theme of this years Homecoming is Orange You Proud Youre a Bronco!

Kickoff for the Homecoming football game, the Broncos vs. the Tulsa Hurricanes, is at 6:05 p.m.

In addition to the football game, other events with special interest for alumni during Homecoming Week are the Distinguished Lecture Series featuring The Hours author Michael Cunningham, a live performance by comedian David Spade, and a theatre arts production of Samuel Becketts Endgame. For a complete schedule of events, visit homecoming.boisestate.edu or call 208 426-1223.
