Boise State Selland College Offers New Blueprint Reading Classes

The Center for Workforce Training at the Boise State University Selland College of Applied Technology is offering two new evening courses for individuals who want to learn basic and advanced blueprint reading and interpretation.

The basic course will include: basic blueprint terms and symbols; different types of plans and how they represent a finished building; information on prints and how they relate to real parts and locations; the purpose of title block; and gridlines.

Advanced class topics include how to: identify and draw the different types of lines and symbols; identify and use abbreviations; explain the parts of a title block; identify the parts of a construction drawing; read plans and elevations contained in basic construction drawings; understand and identify the parts of a specification; explain how drawings are dimensioned; and explain how a survey plan and site or plot plan is developed.

The fees are $65 for the basic class and $150 for the advanced class. There is a $15 discount for those who enroll in both classes. Participants are encouraged to register early as this program is expected to fill quickly. A variety of payment options are available including bill-to-employer options and credit cards.  Call the Center For Workforce Training Office at 426-1974 for registration and program information.
