Literature for Lunch to Discuss 'Atonement' Oct. 6

Atonement, by Ian McEwan, is the topic of the Literature for Lunch discussion series in October. Literature for Lunch is a monthly book discussion group supported by the English department at Boise State University. The public is invited to attend the free discussion from 12:10-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, 720 West Washington St.; no reservations are required.

In Atonement, adolescence, class, love, war and the imagination come together in a story about stories. The tale begins with three young people in the garden of a country house on the hottest day of 1935, and ends with three profoundly changed lives.

McEwan has written two collections of stories and several novels, including The Child in Time, winner of the 1987 Whitbread Novel of the Year Award, and Amsterdam, winner of the 1988 Booker Prize.
