Reunion Celebrates 70 Years For Boise State Student Newspaper

Boise State University’s student newspaper, The Arbiter, will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a reunion of former staff members at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Arbiter office in the Student Union Annex. The event will precede the Homecoming football game against Tulsa at 6:05 p.m.

The newspaper was launched in 1933 as The Roundup, when Bishop Middleton Barnwell was president of Boise Junior College. As the college grew and evolved into Boise State University, so did the newspaper. In the 1980s, it became The University Arbiter, followed by The University News and finally, The Arbiter.

The Arbiter is currently published twice-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, and boasts almost 21,000 readers.
