Boise State Cultural
Center Asks Students To 'Speak Up'

| The
Boise State University Cultural Center is encouraging students,
faculty and staff to be more aware of what they can do to make a
difference in the lives of others during the “Speak Up Against
Injustice” campaign that kicks off Oct. 20.
The event is aimed at helping provide the Boise State community
with the courage and tools necessary to combat injustice.
Situations people commonly run across include hearing a racist or
homophobic joke, seeing someone tease or take advantage of another
person who speaks little or no English, standing by while a buddy
takes advantage of a drunken date or seeing someone be publicly
humiliated because of a disability.
People are encouraged to stop by the Cultural Center booth in
the Student Union and fill out a Speak Up Against Injustice card.
Topics can include situations where a person wishes they had stood
up for what they believed in or times when they actually did. The
cards, which are in the shape of Idaho, will then be put on
display.
