Back for their fourth appearance in the Boise Chamber Music
Series, the Peabody Trio, including violinist Violaine Melançon,
cellist Natasha Brofsky and pianist Seth Knopp, won the
prestigious Naumberg Chamber Music Award in 1989 and currently
serves as the resident faculty ensemble of the Peabody
Conservatory in Baltimore, a position they have held since 1989.
They have been heard on Saint Paul Sunday Morning,
Morning Pro Musica, NPR’s Performance Today, CBC, Radio
Canada, and WQXR Listening Room in New York.
Featured in Friday’s concert will be Beethoven's “Trio Op. 70,
no. 2” (the “Post-Ghost Trio”), Alfred Schnittke’s evocative
postmodern “Trio of 1992,” and Schubert’s “Op. 99.”
Tickets are $20 general and $15 for students and seniors. For
tickets or additional information, call Jeanne Belfy at 426-1216.
The Peabody Trio will also present “A Little Morning Music,” a
master class with student chamber ensembles, at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. This event
is free and open to the public.
