The
Children’s Center at Boise State University will celebrate the
opening of four new classrooms during an open house from 9:30-11
a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.The
4,600-square-foot addition was completed in August. It allows the
Children’s Center, which is accredited through the National
Association for the Education of Young Children, to accommodate 40
more infants and toddlers in the day care program.
In the past, there has been a two- to
three-semester wait to enroll a child of that age, according to
Children’s Center Director Mary Olsen. “This addition was built in
response to that need,” she said.
The Center, located at 1830 Beacon St., has
150 children enrolled. It is open to Boise State students, faculty
and staff. The $600,000 addition was funded by private donations
from the Angora Ridge Foundation, Boise State University
Bookstore, Albertson’s Foundation and Laura Moore Cunningham
Foundation. A classroom was furnished by the Bank of America
Foundation. For more information, call the Children’s Center at
