Boise State Joins National Premiere Of Original Trumpet Composition

Boise State University will be part of a nationwide classical music event when Dennis Keck and the Boise Contemporary Chamber Players premiere Robert Bradshaw’s “Sonata for Trumpet and Strings” in conjunction with dozens of performances in other states. “Sonata” is part of a trumpet concert by Marcellus Brown, Brad Peters and Keck at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. Cost is $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff.

Coinciding premieres of this piece will be held at a variety of venues around the country during the month of November, including many universities. In addition, several soloists will be touring the work across the United States and internationally and others will be recording “Sonata” as part of their upcoming CDs, including well-known soloists James Ackley, University of Connecticut; Mark Clodfelter, University of Kentucky and Eric Berlin, University of Massachusetts.

Bradshaw is composer in residence with the Northshore Youth Symphony Orchestra in Massachusetts. His works include compositions for orchestra, wind ensemble, chorus, opera, ballet, chamber ensembles and solo, vocal and instrumental music.

The program will include solo performances by Brown and Peters along with two pieces for trumpet trios.
