Gene Harris Jazz Festival Hosts 'Endowment Night' For Scholarships

The Gene Harris Jazz Festival will feature “Endowment Night,” on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

In the spirit of Club Night, 10 jazz artists will be featured in five downtown Boise venues, with all proceeds going to the Gene Harris Endowment to provide scholarships for students to study music at Boise State University.

Featured artists include: John Jones, Rex & Beverly, Bill Courtial with Phil Garonzik, Torch Cocktail, Dan McMahon, the Justin Nielson trio, The Faculty, John Bonine’s Rather Large Band, Pete Mauser & Friends and the Jeff Baker Trio. Participating clubs are The Blues Bouquet, Manhattan Grill, Pi, Owyhee Plaza Gamekeeper Lounge and the Red Feather Lounge. Tickets are $10 through Select-a-Seat outlets or at the door of any venue. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Participants must be 21 or older.

The 2004 Gene Harris Jazz Festival will be held April 1, 2 and 3. In its seventh year at Boise State, the festival brings jazz musicians to Boise for three nights of concerts and two days of student clinics and competitions. For the first time, the 2004 festival will feature clinics for elementary school children.
