Alone and Hated, a play by Boise State University student Adam
Harrell, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3-6 at the Morrison
Center Stage II. Admission is $7 general, $5 students of all ages
and Boise State faculty and staff at the door. There is a $2
discount with a can of food. The play is produced by the Theatre
Majors Association; call 426-3957 for more information.
Alone and Hated takes place in Hollywood
where a young independent filmmaker struggles to finish the script
for his first big Hollywood movie. His attempt to please the
studio producers conflicts with his failing personal relationships
and difficulties with writer's block. He must confront the items
and people he is willing to use and lose in order to find his
personal creativity identity. Alone and Hated was first
written as a staged reading performed at Flying M Coffeehouse
before being expanded into a full-length piece. The play
will be submitted for consideration for performance at the
American College Theatre Festival.
Harrell is a junior majoring in theatre with
an emphasis in playwriting. The production is co-produced by the
theatre arts department and the Theatre Major's Association. TMA
produces student work at the end of every semester in its Student
Showcase, giving students a venue for independent expression and
practical experience. Alone and Hated, as is typical with
showcases, is designed by students. The play stars Luke Massengil,
Bethany Adams, Nick Sceirine, Dwayne Blackaller, Joe Lavigne and
Liberty Leeds. Katia Monasterio, Jodie Swanson, Kelly Groskopf and
Zach Stinnett designed the set.
