Boise State To Host Sneak Preview Of "The Last Samurai"

Boise State University has been selected for a sneak preview screening of the film “The Last Samurai” on Monday, Nov. 24. The special showing will be at 7 p.m. in the Special Events Center, presented by Student Programs Board. This film is free for students with a Boise State ID card. Warner Brothers releases the movie starring Tom Cruise, Timothy Spall, Billy Connolly and Tony Goldwyn, directed by Edward Zwick, nationally Friday, Dec. 5. Call 426-1223 for more information. This sweeping epic set in Japan in the 1870s follows the life of Captain Nathan Algren (Cruise), an American military officer hired by Japan’s emperor to turn his Samurai warriors into an army of soldiers. When the Samurai capture Algren, he is impressed by the tradition and code of these proud people. He finds himself enmeshed in their culture and is bound by a sense of honor to fight with them instead of against them.
