Campus Greens Hosts Protest At Idaho State Capitol Nov. 22

Members of the Campus Greens, a Boise State University student organization, will host a public meeting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Idaho State Capitol. The event is part of a national protest of the School of the Americas. Speakers include Boise State sociology professor Martin Orr, Idaho Green Party member Gwen Sanchirrico and Mia Croswaite, a representative of the Catholic diocese.

For more than a decade, student, religious, human rights and social justice groups have converged every November at the gates of the School of Americas Fort Benning, Ga., campus to engage in nonviolent direct action.

School of the Americas (recently renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation [WHISC]) is the U.S. Armys principal Spanish-language training facility for Latin American military personnel.

Campus Greens protesters claim human rights violations by the schools graduates. For more information on protesters views, go to www.soaw.org.
