Boise State Drafting Students Benefit From Software Donation

A $180,000 software donation to the drafting technology program in the Boise State University College of Applied Technology will help better prepare students to enter the work force. The Graphisoft company donated 40 licenses — valued at $4,500 each — for ArchiCAD to Boise State. The donation was facilitated by Melissa Schlangen of Jarvis Group Architects. Schlangen, who is a 2002 graduate of the drafting program, serves on its technical advisory committee. “Several of the local architecture firms use ArchiCAD,” Schlangen said. “Having it available to students better trains them for real life jobs.” A regional ArchiCAD representative demonstrated the software to students earlier this month.
