New Boise State License Plate Now On Sale, Funds Scholarships

If you’re wondering what to give your favorite Bronco fan for the holidays, check out the new Boise State University license plate issued by the Idaho Transportation Department. A portion of the fees for the plate, which features the spirited new Bronco stallion image, will go toward student scholarships administered by the Boise State Alumni Association.

These revised Boise State collegiate plates became available in November. To order the new plates, obtain an application form at either your local county assessor’s motor vehicle office or online at http://www2.state.id.us/idt/dmv/. Plates are also usually available at all four Ada county assessor’s motor vehicle offices in the metropolitan Boise area.

“There’s never been a better time to display your Bronco pride,” said Lee Denker, Boise State Alumni Association executive director. “Boise State athletics are galloping at full speed, enrollment is at an all-time high, and Boise State professors and students are earning numerous academic honors.”

“Best of all, helping students by providing scholarship funds in this uncertain economic climate is something any Idaho resident can be proud of supporting,” said Denker.

The collegiate plates, like other special Idaho state plates, are available for $35 in addition to standard registration fees and $25 for each renewal year. Of that amount $25 from each new plate goes toward scholarships, and $15 per year thereafter. The plates may also be personalized with a custom, unique license number, limited to five letters, for an additional $25 for the first year and $15 for each renewal year.

People who have the older version of the Boise State collegiate plate may keep using them or may upgrade to a new plate. Replacement plates can be ordered through the county assessor’s office or through ITD. There is a minimum $13.20 fee to replace plates through either outlet. Replacement plates are issued using the same sequential numbering.

For more information call the Boise State Alumni Association at 208 426-1698 or the Idaho Transportation Department at 208 334-8649.
