Andrea Richards had never met Barbara Oldenburg before this
week. But she said it would be pretty hard to attend school
without her.
Richards was one of more than 200 Boise State University
Foundation scholarship recipients who were honored at the Scholar
Donor Luncheon for Academic Excellence last Wednesday at Boise
State. The luncheon brings together students on academic
scholarships with their scholarship donors, usually for the first
time.
“I needed help to go to school and I’m so grateful for it,”
said Richards, a junior-year piano performance major.
Oldenburg was a music teacher in the Boise schools for many
years and has contributed to several Boise State Foundation
scholarships.
“I know how difficult it is to pay for college and how hard
students have to work, so I’m helping with what I can,” she said.
The Foundation is working to offset the growing costs of
college for an increasing number of Boise State students through
the Campaign for Students. The Foundation kicked off the major
scholarship fundraising campaign earlier this fall. For more
