Boise State Offers Flute, Piano Concerts January 25

The Boise State University department of music will present two concerts on Sunday, Jan. 25, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. Admission for each concert is $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff.

The American Piano Duo will perform at 4 p.m. Consisting of Boise State music professor Del Parkinson and Brigham Young University professor Jeffrey Shumway, the duo has been performing together for 20 years. Their program includes the Northwest premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story,” arranged for two pianos, “Paganini Variations” by Witold Lutoslawski and “Sonata” by Johannes Brahms.

At 7:30 p.m., the Imbaté Duo will present a program blending ancient musical traditions with contemporary techniques. Imbaté consists of Boise State music professor Liana Tyson on flute and Blake Tyson on percussion.
