Online Resource Helps Students Cope With Mental Health Issues

Boise State University students and others have a new resource available to help them cope with questions or concerns regarding depression and other mental health issues. At ulifeline (www.ulifeline.org/portal.asp?edu=bsu), users can get answers to a variety of questions simply and in a non-threatening environment. The page provides access to Boise State Counseling Services and other campus programs.

Current services offered include:

  • Go Ask Alice, which fields about 1,500 questions weekly from college and high school students, parents, teachers and others; questions are answered 24 hours a day on a wide range of mental health subjects.
  • A mental health and drug information library
  • The Duke Diagnostic Psychiatry Screening Program
  • A drug database resource
  • Suicide prevention resources
  • Ulifeline was launched by Ron Gibori, whose fraternity brother at the University of Arizona committed suicide in 1998. The program is available at more than 90 colleges and universities.
