Boise State Steps Up Efforts For A Smoke-Free Campus

On January 26, Boise State University will launch the “Ciggy Buttz” campaign, designed to raise awareness and compliance regarding the campus smoking policy. The program, made possible through a grant from Central District Health, will ultimately attempt to lower exposure to cigarette smoke among university students, faculty and staff.

The current campus smoking policy prohibits smoking within 30 feet of designated smoke free entrances; steel receptacles are provided at this distance.  The “Ciggy Buttz” campaign will incorporate posters, table tents and ads in the Arbiter to make people aware of Boise State’s policy. In addition, Ciggy Buttz, a life-sized cigarette, will be on campus addressing students and distributing information about the campaign, the ill-effects of smoking and more.
