Women's Center Presents 'Vagina Monologues'

|
Tickets go on sale
Friday, Jan. 30, for “The Vagina Monologues,” a Boise State
University Women’s Center presentation. The show will run at 8
p.m. Feb. 19-21 in the Student Union Special Events Center.
Tickets are available through Select-a-Seat and are $10 general
admission and $5 for students.
“The Vagina Monologues” is part of the V-Day 2004 College
Campaign, a worldwide movement to stop sexual violence against
women and girls. This year marks the Women’s Center’s fourth
annual performance of the play, which is based on Eve Ensler’s
hundreds of interviews with everyday women. The goal of the
production is to educate the community by talking positively and
openly about women’s bodies. Twenty actors, a mixture of Boise
State students, staff and community members, comprise the cast.
The play will be directed by Jodie Swanson, who graduated from
Boise State in December with a bachelors degree in theater arts.
The production premiered off-Broadway in 1998 and has featured an
array of big-name stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Calista Flockhart,
Whoopi Goldberg, Susan Sarandon and Brooke Shields.
