Boise State Administrator Named President Of National Group

OwensPeg Blake, Boise State Vice President for Student Affairs, will take over as president of NASPA, the national organization for student affairs administrators in higher education, during the group’s national convention March 27-31 in Denver.

NASPA is the leading voice for student affairs administration, policies and practices with nearly 9,000 individual members and more than 1,175 member campuses. Blake has held regional offices within the organization and has been involved with the group for over 20 years. She joined Boise State in July 1998 as the university’s first female vice president.

“It is a tremendous honor and responsibility to serve the NASPA membership as president,” Blake said. “I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to impact how people in my profession respond to the challenges we face every day in attempting to help students attain their educational goals.”

NASPA offers professional development, promotes exemplary practices and lobbies at the national level on issues of importance to higher education and students. Blake, who is currently finishing a year as president-elect of the organization, will serve a one-year term as president, followed by a one-year spot on the national board as past president. During her tenure as president, she will have the opportunity to visit campuses across the country.

“One of the side benefits of holding this position is the opportunity for me to talk with people across the country about Boise State University,” Blake said. “I believe we will gain a lot of national exposure and recognition through my travels. I plan to tell everyone how fortunate I feel at be a part of this amazing university.”
