guitarist Alyssa Linden Santoyo, 16, will be featured on From
the Top, the hit public radio program aired on KBSU and KBSW
at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 21. The show is broadcast from the
Scottsdale Center for the Arts in Scottsdale, Ariz. and features
talented young musicians from Arizona, Utah, Texas, Idaho and
California. Hosted by acclaimed concert pianist Christopher
O’Riley, From the Top is heard on more than 240 radio
stations coast to coast, showcasing the stories and musical
performances of exceptional pre-college age classical musicians
from across the country.
Santoyo will perform Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Prelude No.1.”
Flutist Helen McGarr, age 12, from Lindon, Utah, accompanied by
host Christopher O’Riley, will perform Francis Paulenc’s “Sonota;”
cellist Kenneth Stewart, age 18, from Tucson, Ariz., will play a
piece he composed titled “The Fallen Soldier;” O’Riley will
accompany oboist Dallas Durham, age 16, from Lubbock, Texas, in a
performance of Franz-Joseph Hayden’s “Oboe Concerto in C Major,
Allegro Spirituoso;” and pianist Ryan MacEvoy-McCullough, age 16,
from Eureka, Calif., will perform Milosz Magin’s “Five Preludes.”
From the Top is made possible through grants from the
National Endowment for the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural
Council and The PRI Program Fund, whose contributors include Mr.
and Mrs. J. Irwin Miller. It is also supported through the
generous contributions of individuals, foundations and public
radio stations.
