Best-Selling Author Harold Kushner Presents Free Lecture April 20

Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of  “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” and several other best-sellers, will present a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom at Boise State University.

Kushner’s lecture, “Living a Life That Matters,” is based on his book by the same name and is sponsored by the Center for Multicultural and Educational Opportunities at Boise State. The lecture is free and open to the public. Tickets are recommended as seating is limited and are available at the Student Union Ticket Office.

Kushner is rabbi laureate of Temple Israel in Natick, Mass. His books have been translated into 12 languages worldwide. Kushner holds six honorary degrees and has received numerous distinguished awards including the Christopher Medal, an internationally recognized media award that honors creative works that go beyond entertainment to inspire audiences and enhance our vision of the world. Kushner also serves on the board of directors for The Giving Back Fund, a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging and facilitating philanthropic efforts of professional athletes and entertainers.

A private reception with Kushner is also planned, along with opportunities to contribute to three programs: the Scholarships for Underrepresented Youth associated with the Center for Multicultural and Educational Opportunities; the Agency for New Americans; and Magen David Adom, an Israeli emergency disaster service. For information about attending the reception, call 426-2154 or 863-1147.

The Center for Multicultural and Educational Opportunities at Boise State works to encourage and facilitate academic achievement and personal growth among under-represented groups in our schools and communities and to foster and  celebrate human diversity. Established in 1991, the center oversees the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Migrant High School Equivalency Program, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search,  and other outreach programs.
