| April
7 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Velma V. Morrison Center for
the Performing Arts at Boise State University. In conjunction with
this celebration, and to continue and expand its dedication to
contributing to the Treasure Valley community, the Morrison Center
announces its new education and outreach program, ENCORE! (Explore
Never-ending Creative-arts Opportunities Related to Education).
Beginning with the 2004-2005 academic year, the
ENCORE! program will offer a series of four performances presented
by national touring companies, specifically targeted to elementary
school-aged students in the Treasure Valley.
The ENCORE! program encourages children to dream, imagine,
discover and explore the world around them by experiencing the
world of the performing arts. ENCORE! offers a series of
performances specifically designed to not only cover topics
related to the Idaho State Board of Education Humanities
Standards, but also to improve students skills in areas such as
critical thinking, communication and teamwork. Targeting
elementary school-aged students throughout the Treasure Valley,
ENCORE! works with teachers to enrich and enhance the education
experiences of children.
