A full schedule of presentations for the week are aimed at
changing community attitudes and views of victimization and abuse.
A variety of local advocacy groups and government agencies will be
in attendance to disburse information and understanding regarding
a wide-range of problems and services to combat them. Highlights
for the conference include:
April 19, 10:40 a.m. -12:30 p.m. � �Identifying Child
Abuse and Neglect,� presented by Detective Craig Durrell of the
Ada County Sheriff�s Department and Dena Hunt, director of the
CASA ( Court Appointed Special Advocate) program.
April 19, 12:45-2:15 p.m. � �Religion and Domestic
Violence: The Role of the Church,� presented by Reverend Douglas
Yarbrough of Grace Episcopal Church.
April 20, 2:15-3:15 p.m. � �Assisting Victims of Sexual
Assault,� presented by Cyndee Cook , sexual assault coordinator
for Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
April 21, 10:10-11:45 a.m. � �Drugs: Effects on the
Family,� presented by Sunny Reed, PIRC (Parent Information and
Resource Centers) program coordinator.
April 21, 3:40-5 p.m. � �Men Who Batter: Cultural
Barriers,� presented by Oscar Arguello and Angie Martinez of the
Idaho Migrant Council.
April 22, 10-11:45 a.m. � �Victim Impact: A Panel of
Victims,� presented by Loretta Stadler of MADD (Mothers Against
Drunk Driving).
April 22, 3:40-5 p.m. � �Teen Dating Violence,�
presented by Sue Holly of the Women�s and Children�s Alliance.
April 23, 10-11:15 a.m. � �Personal Safety for Women,�
presented by Tuckie Shaver, Crime Prevention Specialist for the
Boise Police Department.
