Boise State Foundation Announces Chaffee Award Winners

The Boise State University Foundation has named this year’s Chaffee Associates award winners. The Chaffee Associates, named after Boise State’s first president Eugene Chaffee, is the Boise State Foundation’s premier giving society. The 2004 Chaffee Associates Spirit Award was given to Rich and Patsy Fedrizzi. This award is given to Chaffee Associates who provide support to the entire university and have the vision and dedication to share their resources and talents across disciplines and departments in order to enhance the university as a whole. The Fedrizzis have been supporters of Boise State since 1986. Rich is past president of the Bronco Athletic Association and a current member of the Foundation Board and the Bronco Athletic Association. Both he and Patsy give their time and support to help with the annual Phonathon, the Bronco Athletic Association and the radiological sciences department and recently helped fund the expansion of a new athletic weight room. Past recipients of the Chaffee Associates Spirit Award include Harvey and Margo Neef in 2003 and Larry and Karen Arguinchona in 2002. The 2004 Chaffee Associates Dedication Award went to John and Joan Carley. This award is given in recognition of those Chaffee Associates who share not only their financial resources, but also their time and wisdom and are willing to devote countless hours of volunteer service to help Boise State achieve its full potential. John began working at Albertsons in 1950 as a 16-year old ice cream dipper and retired from the grocery chain 46 years later as its president and chief operations officer. He is a graduate of the Boise State College of Arts and Sciences and was honored as a 1992 Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award winner. John and Joan made their first major gift to the university in 1994 by endowing a business scholarship through the Alumni Association in their name. A year later they created an endowed scholarship in the College of Business and Economics that provided four new annual four-year scholarships. Past recipients of the Chaffee Associates Dedication Award include Joanna “Jody” DeMeyer in 2003 and Roger and Barbara Michener in 2002.
