Boise State Symphonic Winds To Present Spring Concert

The Boise State University Symphonic Winds ensemble will present its 2004 spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 25, in the Morrison Center Main Hall. Admission to the concert is free for all students, $5 for adults and $3 for seniors.

The program will open with “Cauldron” by Scott Boerma, an exciting new work for band performed previously in Boise by the Boise State All-Star Honor Band under the direction of John Whitwell of Michigan State University. This piece will be followed by the H. Robert Reynolds transcription of “O Magnum Mysterium” and “Armenian Dances” by Alfred Reed. Following the intermission, the Symphonic Winds will feature Shafer Mahoney’s “Symphony in E-flat,” the monumental work for band in six movements that includes elements of Copland, rock and roll, blues and jazz.
