The
26th annual Boise State University Spring Fling celebration
promises to be a day full of fun, food, music and activities from
11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, in Julia Davis Park. This
event, themed around “Treasure Island,” is free and open to the
public.
Wristbands, required to participate in
Spring Fling activities, are free for Boise State students and $5
general. Wristbands will be available at the information tent the
day of the festival and are good for unlimited activities.
Activities for the day include the Vertical Velocity Skydiving
Simulator, three bounce houses, Nascar, sumo wrestling, mini disk
golf, Orbitron and Mega Tangle. There will also be various food
and art vendors as well as representatives from student
organizations.
Following is a list of bands that will
perform throughout the day:
11 a.m.-noon:
Mona, a laid-back rock band from Seattle, Wash.
Noon-12:30 p.m.:
Billy Braun, a local country musician.
1-2 p.m.:
Illusion 33, recently opened for the Presidents of the United
States of America.
2:30-3 p.m.:
Red Fish Blue Fish, with dark-folk lyrics stripped of
sentimentality.
3-4 p.m.:
Frame of Mind, a past Spring Fling performer.
4:30-5:30 p.m.:
Kissinger, a popular college rock band.
6:30-8 p.m.:
Oleander, a Sacramento-based rock band known for their song Why
I’m Here.
Comedian Buzz Sutherland will emcee the afternoon events.
Spring Fling is sponsored by the Boise State University Student
Programs Board. Event co-sponsors include KISS FM 103.3, Mix 106,
Idahy Federal Credit Union, Boise Weekly, The Arbiter, the Boise
State University Cultural Center and Zorba’s Kitchen.
