Summer courses are a great way for students to
fast-track earning their degree. Registration for summer
semester is currently under way at Boise State University.
Students can select from a wide variety of core, upper division,
graduate and Internet-based classes, as well as from a large
selection of short workshops on topics such as desert studies,
Shakespeare, the environment, cinema, health and wellness and
the Middle East.
Most summer classes meet four days a week or less, so students
can earn credits and still enjoy long summer weekends, said Mike
Stockstill, dean of Extended Studies.
Enrolling in summer classes is also a way of completing courses
that students were unable to take in the fall or spring
semesters and maintaining or accelerating progress toward their
degrees, said Daryl Jones, Boise State provost.
Students also save some money by taking summer courses as summer
per credit fees are lower than fall fees, according to Mark
Wheeler, dean of Enrollment Services.
“Picking up one or two classes in the summer could save
thousands of dollars if it helps avoid prolonging a student’s
graduation by even just one semester,” Wheeler said.

Currently enrolled Boise State students can
register for summer classes on BroncoWeb. Others need to apply
for admission first.
