University To Hold Spring Commencement May 15 
|
Boise State University will hold its 73rd
Commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, in The
Pavilion, and award its first-ever honorary doctorate to
filmmaker Michael Hoffman.
Hoffman is a graduate of the Boise State theatre arts
department, a Rhodes Scholar and has donated time to teach and
work with Boise State students.
About 1,683 students are on track for graduation this spring
with about 1,100 of them expected to take part in the ceremony.
Doors open at 9 a.m.
Of those graduating, three will be awarded doctorate degrees
from the College of Education, 229 will receive master’s
degrees, 1,053 bachelor’s degrees, 300 associates degrees and
184 certificates.
A number of students earned perfect 4.0 GPA’s. They included 68
graduate students, 23 undergraduate students and 15 applied
technology students.
This year’s commencement speaker will be Ali Ishaq, former
Associated Students of Boise State University president.
At commencement, those who are handicapped can enter The
Pavilion through entrance 1. Ushers will be available to assist
them to the elevator and to a special seating area on the
parquet level.
The ceremony will include several large screens that will
broadcast the graduates accepting their degrees so that those
sitting farther away from the stage will be able to see
individual graduates up close. The ceremony also will be carried
