Boise State University To Hold Spring Commencement May 15

Boise State University will hold its 73rd Commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, in The Pavilion, and award its first-ever honorary doctorate to filmmaker Michael Hoffman.

Hoffman is a graduate of the Boise State theatre arts department, a Rhodes Scholar and has donated time to teach and work with Boise State students.
About 1,683 students are on track for graduation this spring with about 1,100 of them expected to take part in the ceremony. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Of those graduating, three will be awarded doctorate degrees from the College of Education, 229 will receive master’s degrees, 1,053 bachelor’s degrees, 300 associates degrees and 184 certificates.

A number of students earned perfect 4.0 GPA’s. They included 68 graduate students, 23 undergraduate students and 15 applied technology students.
This year’s commencement speaker will be Ali Ishaq, former Associated Students of Boise State University president.

At commencement, those who are handicapped can enter The Pavilion through entrance 1. Ushers will be available to assist them to the elevator and to a special seating area on the parquet level.

The ceremony will include several large screens that will broadcast the graduates accepting their degrees so that those sitting farther away from the stage will be able to see individual graduates up close. The ceremony also will be carried live on the Internet at http://streamer.boisestate.edu/ramgen/encoder/commencement.rm
