Boise State Radio's Paluzzi Leaves Idaho For New Job In Colorado
Engineering and operations director Steve Johnston to serve as interim general manager

Boise State Radio General Manager Jim Paluzzi announced this week he will leave Boise State University in mid-June to accept the newly created position of vice president for applied technology at Colorado Public Radio. Steve Johnston, engineering and operations director, will serve as interim general manager during the search for Paluzzi’s replacement.

Paluzzi joined Boise State in 1986 as one of two full-time staff members for the single low- powered station. In his 18 years of service to Boise State Radio, the operation has grown to include three public radio networks with 19 transmitters that reach over half the population of Idaho, as well as adjacent regions of eastern Oregon and northern Nevada. Today Boise State Radio employs 21 permanent staff members, dozens of student employees and has an operating budget in excess of $2.3 million.

“The last 18 years have gone quickly,” Paluzzi said. “While I am excited about my new work for my ‘dream job’ at Colorado Public Radio, I leave a huge part of me — and many friends — behind at Boise State. I have a deep sense of commitment to Boise State and it will always be a huge part of my life. Whether in Boise or in Denver, I will continue to be a Bronco.”

At Colorado Public Radio, Paluzzi will develop new and more effective ways of utilizing technology — including high definition digital radio and the Internet — to carry out the station’s goals and activities. He will begin in his new duties on June 28.

Paluzzi holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Kent State University, and is the recipient of numerous state, regional and national awards for his work in broadcast journalism and broadcast documentary production. He served two terms on the board of directors for National Public Radio, chairing the Investment Committee and the Distribution/Interconnection Committee. He also completed two terms as president of Rocky Mountain Public Radio and three terms as president of West Coast Public Radio. He currently serves on the board of directors of the International Association of Audio Information Services.
While at Boise State, Paluzzi also taught broadcast technology classes and was actively involved in the curriculum, training, and development of tomorrow’s broadcast professionals.
