Boise State Presents Choreography Workshop Festival June 25-26

Boise State University’s third annual Summer DanceFest Choreography Festival features outstanding new choreography performed by DanceFest Workshop participants, as well as the work of Boise State dance students. The evening, presented by the Theatre Arts Department, offers performances ranging from classical and contemporary ballet to jazz and modern dance. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 25 and 26, at the Morrison Center Stage II. Tickets are $3 at the door. The evening is a culmination of a two-week intensive summer workshop. Participants are from all across Idaho as well as Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Performances include a piece choreographed by modern dance instructor Jo Miller, performed to the music of Hayden; a jazz piece choreographed by jazz instructor Kim Machado; a traditional classical ballet piece in four movements choreographed by Marla Hansen, head of Boise State’s dance program, to music from Delibes’ ballet “La Source;” and a contemporary ballet piece in five movements, also choreographed by Hansen. In addition, a modern piece choreographed by student Kristen Williams will feature a faculty member and advanced students. This is a unique opportunity to experience new works of choreography imbued with energy and emotion.
