Boise State Hosts Night Of Salsa Dancing July 22

Boise State University Student Activities and the Cultural Center are teaming up to present an evening of salsa dancing and lessons from 8-11 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in the Student Union Hatch Ballroom. The public is invited and admission is $1 at the door.

The evening features Boise State students and competitive salsa dancers Mansi Loya and Aolani McGavis. The duo will compete in the Palm Springs Salsa Competition Aug. 13-15. A preview of the evening will be held from noon-1 p.m. in the Student Union Fireplace Lounge.

Salsa is a form of dance similar to mambo — both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music. In Salsa, turns are an important feature, making it different from Mambo, which uses mostly forward and backward moves.
