Morrison Center Announces New Family Theater Series

The Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, housed on the Boise State University campus, continues its dedication to the Treasure Valley community with its first-ever theater series specifically targeted to a family audience. The 2004-2005 Family Series presents four delightfully creative productions that prove that live theater can impact the senses like no other form of entertainment.

Season tickets are now on sale; priority seating deadline is Aug. 30. Subscription packages run from $54-$72. Shows include:

Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co., 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 — Fred Garbo and Daielma Santos employ giant inflatable props in this fast-paced and energetic concert that has won the praise and affection of audiences worldwide.

The New Shanghai Circus, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 — Featuring the Incredible Acrobats of China, this show combines artistry and athleticism in amazing acts of grace and ease. From contortionists to plate spinners to dragon dancers, this show offers thrills and delights for all ages.

The Magic School Bus, 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6 — Climb aboard for a wild ride on Scholastic’s Magic School Bus with Ms. Frizzle and her reptilian sidekick Liz. The pair, along with reluctant Arnold, jokester Carlos, energetic Wanda and bookish Dorothy Ann, lead two adventures in “The Traveling Sound Show” and “Recycling.”

The Spencers, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28 — The Spencers infuse magic with movement, music and physical expression in an evening of illusion. As easily as they conjure amazement, they create intimate, compelling portraits that run the gamut of emotion — from side-splitting comedy to edge-of-your-seat drama.
