Business Matters Debuts on NPR News 91
Radio feature produced
with College of Business and Economics at Boise State University

|
“Idaho Business Matters” is a new radio feature being
produced by Boise State Radio, in conjunction with the
College of Business and Economics at Boise State University.
Hosted by international business professor Nancy K. Napier,
“Idaho Business Matters” will feature input from other
professors throughout the college as well as Treasure Valley
organizations. The 90-second feature begins Oct. 4 and will
air twice daily at 3:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on NPR News 91.
“Idaho Business Matters” focuses on business issues of
interest to all Idahoans and will include examples and
applications from local organizations. It will also feature
local businesses that are finding unique solutions to common
problems or that are succeeding against unusual odds.
Napier, who received her doctorate from The Ohio State
University, is executive director of the Global Business
Consortium at Boise State. Her most recent book is Managing
Relationships in Transition Economies (with D. Thomas). She
has published widely and is currently working on research in
creative industries and the creative process in
organizations.
Boise State Radio Program Director Jim East said “Idaho
Business Matters” is part of a larger goal. “Listeners to
public radio often tell us that they want more local
programming; however, they are quick to clarify, ‘But it
needs to have the quality of national programming.’ It takes
time, commitment, applicable knowledge and ability to
produce a regular feature like “Idaho Business Matters.”
We’re fortunate that the College of Business and Economics
has stepped forward as partners for this project and has
committed the time and resources to make it possible.
“Nancy is a personable, knowledgeable and likable host. I
think listeners will appreciate her approach to issues that
are important or interesting to them.”
The dean of the College of Business and Economics, Bill
Lathen, said that “Idaho Business Matters” is a great way to
showcase the expertise of the business faculty. “I
particularly thank Dr. Napier for her commitment to
excellence with this programming, as it is a time-intensive
project and I know it will be a wonderful source of business
insight for our community.”
Topics on the show will deal with such issues as banking
scams, employer electronic monitoring of employees, and
creativity as a resource.
NPR News 91 is a service of Boise State University and is
