Bronco Welcome workshop.
The Student Programs Board presents a workshop
titled “How to Talk to Your Professor,” at noon on
Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Student Union Farnsworth Room.
Dr. Suzanne McCorkle from the College of Social Sciences
and Public Affairs will facilitate the workshop. The
first 30 participants will receive a free lunch. For

Sept. 13-17
(Photo Op) Latino Photo
Exhibition. The Cultural Center presents a one-man
photo exhibition of Latino life by Claudio Beagarie from
7 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday, Sept. 13-17, in the
Student Union Fireplace Lounge. The exhibit is part of
Boise State’s Latino Heritage Month celebration. For

the Boise River: A Historical Walking Tour.” Todd
Shallat will host a walking tour of the Boise River at
6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, beginning on the
Friendship Bridge connecting Boise State and Julia Davis
Park. The tour is part of the Renaissance Institute
Lecture Series presented by the Division of Extended
Studies. The event is free for members. To register,

Sept. 15-19
“The Producers.” The
biggest Tony Award winner in Broadway history comes to
Boise State Sept. 15-19 in the Morrison Center Main
Hall. “The Producers” is a musical comedy by Mel Brooks
that USA Today called “the funniest, most fearlessly
irreverent thing ever seen on stage.” Show times are 2
p.m. Sept. 16, 18 and 19; 7 p.m. Sept. 15, 16 and 19; 8
p.m. Sept. 17. Presented by Broadway in Boise. Tickets
are $30-$65 and are available from Select-a-Seat.

Ethnic Luncheon. The
Boise State Cultural Center presents an Ethnic Luncheon
at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Student Union Hatch
D Ballroom. Enjoy a free lunch and visit with other

“China Through the Eyes of
Faith,” Renaissance Institute Seminar Series, Shelton
Woods. The Flicks, 646 Fulton St. 12:30-2:30 p.m. Presented
by the Division of Extended Studies. $40 plus membership for

Sept. 16-18
“Fair Use” performance,
followed by discussion. New Heritage Theater Company
will perform “Fair Use,” a play by Sands Hall, on September
16, 17 and 18 at Borah High School as part of Read the Same
Book. The play will be followed by a discussion led by Tara
Penry, associate professor of English at Boise State
University. The event starts at 7 p.m.; tickets are $10 each
at the Log Cabin Literary Center and $25 general, $15
seniors at the door. The play contemplates what is “fair
use” of someone else’s art and life, focusing on the
controversy surrounding Wallace Stegner’s use of Mary
Hallock Foote’s writing for his novel, Angle of Repose.

Mexican Independence Day
fiesta. The Cultural Center presents a celebration of
Mexico’s Independence Day from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday,
Sept. 16, on the Student Union Patio. Features include
information booths, crafts, snacks and entertainment. Call

Friday, Sept. 17
Bronco Gymnastics Golf
Scramble. Boise State University gymnasts host the
Bronco Golf Scramble at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at
Shadow Valley on Hwy 55. Sponsor a hole and golf. Gymnasts
will be on the holes providing “flips for tips.” All
proceeds benefit the Boise State Gymnastics Program. Call

St. Petersburg String Quartet
concert. Boise Chamber Music Series presents one of the
world’s leading string quartets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday,
Sept. 17, at the Morrison Center Recital Hall. The St.
Petersburg Quartet has been described as “spectacular,
stunning and passionate” for its precision and elegance. The
quartet was formed in 1985 by graduates of the Leningrad
Conservatory. It was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1995
and earned a silver metal at the Tokyo International
Competition of Chamber Ensembles. Admission is $20 and $15.

SEPT. 18-19
Family Camping Trip. The
Outdoor Program and Student Programs Board are offering an
overnight family campout for Boise State students with
families Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19, at Schaffer
Butte. The deadline for registration is Monday, Sept. 13,
and the cost is $20 per family. A pre-trip meeting will be
held from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the REC. The
group will depart for Schaffer Butte at 9 a.m. on Saturday,
and return at 6 p.m. Sunday. Leadership, equipment, food and
transportation will be provided. The family camping trip is
a way for students with families to meet other families with

SATURDAY, SEPT. 18
Service Saturday. The
Volunteer Services Board invites students to participate in
service projects for one of five non-profit organizations.
Beginning at 9 a.m on Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Student
Union Food Court, volunteers will be assigned to projects
for Boise Parks and Recreation, Boise Rescue Mission, WOCA,
Idaho State Veterans Home and Teen Challenges. For more
