Announces New Online Policy Journal Looking At Political and
Historical Issues in Idaho
Boise State University’s Center for Idaho History
and Politics unveiled a new online public policy
journal today titled Idaho Issues Online. Published
twice a year by the College of Social Sciences and
Public Affairs at Boise State, its goal is to foster
critical thinking about political and historical
problems of vital importance to voters and
policymakers. The publication is available at
www.idahoissues.com.
The first issue looks at Idaho’s five major Indian tribes — Coeur
d’Alene, Kootenai, Nez Perce, Shoshone-Bannock and
Shoshone Paiute — from both a historical and public
policy perspective. The next issue, to be published
in Spring 2005, will examine Idaho prisons and the
accompanying range of social problems that vex state
policymakers.
Idaho Issues Online features informed scholarly
research and short profiles of significant people
working on or embroiled in the issues under
discussion. A “gallery” page offers visual exhibits,
such as the contemporary Indian bead, cornhusk and
leatherwork featured in the first issue. For those
interested in learning more about the subject, Web
links are provided to news articles, cultural
events, related issues and more.
The editor is Kathleen Craven of the new Center for
Idaho History and Politics at Boise State. Art
director is award-wining designer Adele Thomsen.
