Event of special note:
Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, is the Distinguished Lecture Series speaker. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Tuesday, Oct. 19. 7 p.m.

SEPT. 24-NOV. 3
Tibetan Paintings-Kumar Lama exhibit. Original work by Kumar Lama will be on display at the Sacred Art of Tibet exhibition in the Boise State University Student Union Gallery. The exhibit will be available for viewing from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Call 426-4636.

OCT. 4-22
T-shirts to benefit charity. Student Union. The InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is raising money for the International Justice Mission by selling t-shirts and buttons in the Student Union from 9 a,m,-2 p.m.. The goal is to raise enough money to liberate one child from forced prostitution and two people from bonded slavery. For more information on the International Justice Mission, visit www.ijm.org.

SUNDAY, OCT. 17
Boise State Flute Choir will perform ensemble music, old and new, for two to nine players. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 4 p.m. $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. Call 426-3980.

TUESDAY, OCT. 19   
Mary Robinson, distinguished lecture. Former President of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights will speak on “Social Responsibility and Ethical Globalization” as part of Boise State’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.Free and open to the public. Free parking available at the Student Union visitor’s lot, Bronco Stadium lot and Bronco Lane. Call 426-1790.

Early Music Ensemble Concert, Academy of St. Giles. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m. The eight-member Academy of St. Giles presents a program of Italian and English music covering all early music periods. Instrumental and vocal secular music of the 14th century from the Middle Ages, features the lute, vielle, crumhorn, cornamuse, recorder and percussion. Composers include Giovanni de Perugia, Maestro Piero and Francesco Landini. Music from the Renaissance includes lute songs, recorder and string consort music of the 16th century featuring John Dowland and Thomas Campion. From the Baroque, trio sonatas
and symphonies from Girolamo Frescobaldi and John Jenkins.  Instruments include the viola da gamba, keyboards, lute, recorder and violins. $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. Call 426-3980.

Afghanistan Unveiled, Diverse Perspectives Film Series.  Cultural Center. 5:30 p.m. Free. Presented by the Cultural Center, Student Activities, Independent Television Service (ITVS), International Programs Office and Idaho Public Television. Call 426-5950.

“Seek Justice, Rescue the Oppressed.” Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 7-9 p.m. Speaker Larry Martin, vice president of the International Justice Mission, will speak on the mission’s campaign to rescue people from oppression.
