Boise State Hosts
'Election Countdown' Panel Oct. 28
|
Boise State University President Bob Kustra will host an
“Election Countdown” panel with Boise State professors Jim
Weatherby and Gary Moncrief from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct.
28, in the Student Union Hatch B Ballroom. The event is free
and open to the public.
The panel will feature informal dialogue between the three
participants on the upcoming general election. Discussion
will include potential electoral college outcomes in the
presidential race, expected voter turnout, the use of new
voting technologies, an assessment of Idaho legislative
races and a summary of Idaho’s “Deliberation Day” and how
Idaho voters compare to the rest of the nation. Panelists
will also take questions from the audience.
Kustra served two terms as lieutenant governor of Illinois
and was also a member of the Illinois Legislature for 10
years. Weatherby is a political analyst, chair of the Public
Policy and Administration Department and director of the
Public Policy Center. Political scientist Moncrief is a
leading scholar in the field of legislative studies,
including term limits, redistricting and the effect of the
electoral systems on the election of women and minorities.
