Pianist Vassily Primakov To Play At Boise State Nov. 13

Boise State University’s Student Union Classical Performances series brings Russian pianist Vassily Primakov to the Special Events Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. This is the third performer this fall in this series that brings extraordinary traditional and contemporary musicians to campus each year. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students 17 and under, seniors and Boise State students, employees and alumni at Select-a-Seat outlets or by calling 426-1494 or visiting www.idahotickets.com. Free parking is available in the Liberal Arts parking lot just west of the Special Events Center.

A virtuoso pianist who took first prize in the 2002 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Primakov has given recit
als in Switzerland, Romania, Russia and Japan. He made his New York debut this spring at Alice Tully Hall with the Westchester Philharmonic and has also performed as a guest artist for several symphonies, including those in Utah, San Diego and Colorado Springs.

Primakov was born in Moscow in 1979. At the age of 15, he won first prize in the Rachmaninoff International Young Pianist Competition in Russia. In 1998 he was awarded the Bruce Hungerford Memorial Award, and in 1999 he won second prize in the Cleveland International Piano Competition. In 2002, the same year he graduated from The Juilliard School, Primakov won the Silver Medal and the Audience Prize at the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition.
