Boise State Theatre
Arts Presents Premiere Of 'Dante'
|
The department of theatre arts will premiere Dante, an
original work developed in collaboration with faculty and
students, Nov. 11-21. Performances are in the Morrison
Center Stage II at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11-13 and 17-20, and 2
p.m. Nov. 14 and 21. Tickets are $10 general; $9 non-Boise
State students, Boise State alumni and seniors; and free for
Boise State full-time students and employees through
Select-a-Seat.
With music and script by Boise State student Adam Harrell,
Dante is a musical comedy that takes its hero of the same
name through his own personal hell, revisiting the moments
in his life where he lost his way. His encounters range from
hilarious to heartbreaking as he must justify his existence
while fending off his own personal demons. He must also be
careful not to incur the wrath of his long-dead high school
gym teacher, Mr. Virgil, who guides him through his many
levels of shame and guilt to potential redemption.
Directed by Mike Baltzell, with Phil Atlakson as dramaturg,
Dante features Luke Massengill as Dante, Liberty Leeds as
Megan and Josh Belville as Virgil. Costume design is by
Nicole Laeger, choreography is by Hailey Hays and Joe
Lavigne is the set designer. Seth Asa Sengel is musical
director.
