Martin Corless-Smith and Cathy Wagner to Read at Boise State Nov. 12

Two Boise State University professors, Cathy Wagner, author of the chapbook Macular Hole, and Martin Corless-Smith, author of Nota, will present readings of their poetry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, in the Bishop Barnwell Room, on the second floor of the Student Union. The reading is presented by the Boise State English Department�s Master of Fine Arts writing program and is free and open to the public.

Wagner received an MFA in poetry from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Utah. She has received an Academy of American Poets award, the Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship and has published several chapbooks, including Imitating, published by Leap Press in 2004. Her poems have appeared in The Gig, Shearsman, Slope and other journals. She has also written a poetry column for Radical Society, a journal published by Routledge Press. Wagner resides in Boise, where she coordinates the Center for Poetry and Politics and teaches poetry at Boise State.

Corless-Smith received MFAs from the University of Iowa and Southern Methodist University and a Ph.D. from the University of Utah. His first book of poetry, Of Piscator, was awarded the University of Georgia Contemporary Poetry Series Prize and was nominated for the Kate Tufts Award from Clairmont Graduate University. His poems have appeared in Gutcult, Third Factory, EPR and other journals. He is currently working on a series of essays for Denver Quarterly. Corless-Smith resides in Boise, and teaches poetry.

The Creative Writing MFA Reading Series for the fall season concludes with a fiction reading by Doug Unger, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Hemingway Center.
