Karen Kearns Joins Idaho Center For the Book Advisory Board, Will Represent Southeast Idaho

Karen Kearns has been named a new advisory board member for the Idaho Center for the Book, housed at Boise State University. The Center was established to encourage and promote an interest in reading, writing, making, disseminating and collecting books. The ICB also seeks to preserve and publicize the bibliophilic heritage of the Gem State. Kearns will represent Southeast Idaho.

Kearns is head of special collections and university archivist at the Idaho State University library. She received her B.A. in history from ISU in 1987, followed by a master’s of library science from the University of Kentucky. She spent a total of 10 years working at the Huntington Library in San Marion, Calif., in several positions, including curator of Western historical manuscripts and institutional archivist. She is particularly interested in the women’s suffrage movement and co-authored a book titled “Votes for Women: A 75th Anniversary Album” with Ellen DuBois. Kearns returned to Idaho in 1998.
