Bod Pod Technology
To Be Offered At REACH Health Fair
|
Boise State University Health Promotion students will offer
FREE Bod Pod body composition testing at the REACH Health
Fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. The Bod Pod
uses air displacement to measure body fat and lean muscle
mass. This is the same principle as hydrostatic weighing,
without the inconvenience of getting wet. The Bod Pod
assessment will be located upstairs in the Student Union
Building during the health fair; testing only takes about
five minutes, but pre-registration is required.
According to Life Measurement Inc, the Bod Pod has a 1-2
percent error rate and is 98 percent accurate. It is
important to wear very tight, form-fitted clothing like
Lycra® or Spandex®. A swim cap, provided for use during
testing, must also be worn to compress any air pockets
within the hair. Jewelry and glasses can produce inaccurate
readings and should not be worn.
Those interested in participating in Bod Pod body
composition testing must pre-register by contacting Katrina
Telleria at 830-0996 or Caile Spear at 426-3656. The Bod Pod
is just one of several health-related services available at
the REACH Health Fair. For more information on the fair,
