NOV. 29-DEC. 3
Aids Memorial Quilt display. Student Union Hatch Ballroom. 8 a.m.-6 p.m. A week-long awareness event concerning the causes, effects, and prevention of the AIDS Virus. Call 426-4636.

DEC. 1-4
Theatre Majors Association Fall Showcase. Morrison Center Stage II. 7:30 p.m. The semiannual showcase will present student-produced work, collectively titled �Her/Histronics, a Theatre Experience in Two Nights.� �Females,� by Jane Martin and directed by Liberty Leeds, will show on Dec. 1 and 3. �Males,� by Eric Bogosian and directed by Vanessa Peterson, will show on Dec. 2 and 4. WEDNESDAY, DEC. 1
Communication 101 Speech Showcase. Student Union Jordan  Ballroom. 7 p.m. Eight finalists from preliminary rounds of judging, representative of about 1,000 COMM 101 students, will present an eight-minute speech to compete for more than $500 in prize money to be awarded by a panel of five distinguished judges. Jim Brickman, holiday concert. Morrison Center Main Hall. 7:30 p.m. Brickman�s distinctive piano virtuosity has personified pure romance for audiences of all ages. Some of Brickman�s  greatest hits include �Valentine� (with Martina McBride), �The Gift� (with Collin Raye and Susan Ashton) and �Simple Things� (with Rebecca Lynn Howard). Literature for Lunch, Girl With a Pearl Earring, by Tracy Chevalier. Boise Public Library, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. 12:10-1 p.m. This book that inspired the movie is an imaginative explanation of the enigma of Vermeer�s canvases of the Dutch Golden Age. The book follows the story of a 16-year-old servant girl whose life is transformed by her encounter with the artist. Free. Call 426-1233 or 426-1179.

Under Pressure. Flying M Coffeehouse, 500 W. Idaho. Reception, 6-8 p.m. Exhibition of works from Boise State printmaking classes that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the printmaking program. Curated by Kimiko Miyoshi, Boise State assistant professor of Art. Call 426-1060.

FRIDAY, DEC. 3
Janelle Oberbillig, bassoon, and Faculty Wind Quintet. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m. Oberbillig joins the Faculty Wind Quintet in their debut performance. Selections include Darius Milhaud�s �La Chemin�e du Roi Ren� and Hindmith�s �Sonata for Bassoon and Piano.� Presented by the Faculty Artist Series.  Tickets are $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. Boise State Percussion Ensemble Concert. Morrison Center B-125. 7:30 p.m.  Includes works for trios, quartets and quintets, a marimba arrangement of �Paquita� and will conclude with an original piece by Jeremy Schrepple. John Grade, artist at work. Student Union Hatch Ballroom. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Artist John Grade, who uses sculpture to interpret experiences with nature, will present a slide lecture and discussion about his work. In partnership with the Boise Art Museum, now exhibiting �John Grade: Sculpture and Drawing� through Dec. 26, Artist at Work is a free program open to community artists, students and general audiences. Free parking will be available in both the Liberal Arts parking lot and the visitor lot behind the Student Union Building. If using the Student Union lot you must state that you are a guest of the Visiting Artist and Scholar Series and place the received permit on your dashboard. Free. Call 426-3994.

SATURDAY, DEC. 4
Falla Guitar Trio. Special Events Center. 8 p.m. These dynamic artists have received worldwide recognition for their performances of classical repertoire, their revelatory jazz improvisations, and their innovative programs ranging from Bach to Bernstein to the blues and beyond. Presented by Student Union Classical Performances. Tickets are $10 general, $5 for students 17 and under, seniors and Boise State students, faculty, staff and alumni. Call 426-1494.
