Boise State University’s Student Union Classical Performances series brings the Falla Guitar Trio to the Special Events Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. This is the fourth performance this fall in this series that brings extraordinary traditional and contemporary musicians to campus each year. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students 17 and under, seniors and Boise State students, employees and alumni at Select-a-Seat outlets or by calling 426-1494 or visiting www.idahotickets.com. Free parking is available in the Liberal Arts parking lot just west of the Special Events Center.

The Falla Guitar Trio has received worldwide recognition for its performances. The group is comprised of Gyan Riley, artistic director for the San Francisco Classical Guitar Society; Dusan Bogdanovic, professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; and Kenton Youngstrom, professor at Pepperdine University.

The trio performs and records a wide variety of music, including jazz renditions, blues and new works. Youngstrom and Bogdanovic are highly respected composers whose works are often sought by other guitarists. Recent tours have taken the group from Washington State to New York, including the Midwest and southern states — National Public Radio’s “Performance Today” featured a live performance from Atlanta's Spivey Hall. The group has also developed a new bass acoustic classical guitar. Working jointly with the D’Addario company of string makers, three different prototypes have been tested and are currently being used.
