DEC.11-12
“The Nutcracker.” Morrison Center Main Hall. 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 11; 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 12. A holiday story that delights the senses, “Nutcracker’s” whimsical dancing takes you around the world with Ballet Idaho, the Boise Philharmonic, Opera Idaho Children’s Chorus and young dancers from the community. Presented by Ballet Idaho. Tickets are $9-$39 through Select-a-Seat. Call 426-1494.

DEC. 11-13
Clay and Fire exhibit and sale. Liberal Arts Gallery I. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. This annual exhibit and sale features a large selection of high-quality work by Boise State ceramics students, faculty and alumni. Featuring hundreds of pieces that range from elegant to exotic, holiday shoppers can find unique gifts for friends and family. A portion of the proceeds is applied toward the annual Visiting Artists Program in Ceramics. Free. Call 426-3205.

DEC. 13-15
Finals Relief. Student Union Jordan Ballroom A and B, 11 a.m.-2 p.m; Student Union Johnson Room, 7-9 p.m. All Boise State students, faculty and staff are invited to take a relaxing break from finals with a complimentary 10-minute massage by a licensed masseur. A healthy lunch will also be offered from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sponsored by Student Activities and Student Programs Board. Call 426-4636.

FRIDAY, DEC. 17
Winter Graduation Celebration. Bronco Gym. 8 a.m. A festive party for graduates and families prior to Commencement. Presented by Alumni Association. Call 426-1698.

Winter Commencement. Taco Bell Arena. 10 a.m. Approximately 500 students will receive degrees and former Gov. Cecil Andrus will receive an honorary doctorate. Call 426-4636.

SATURDAY, DEC. 18
Winter Festival. Student Union Jordan Ballroom D. 4:30 p.m. An evening of fun for the whole family. Includes dinner, African drumming lessons, a jump house, balloon animals, crafts, cookies and more. Free admission with a book or toy donation. Sponsored by Student Programs Board. Call 426-4636.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The Fall semester at Boise State will end Dec. 16, 2004 and the campus will be on winter break until the Spring semester begins on Jan. 10, 2005. The Student Union will remain open during the break. FRIDAY, DEC. 31
AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic. Memphis, Tenn. 2:30 p.m. Boise State Broncos vs. University of Louisville.

Liberty Bowl party. Student Union Hatch Ballroom. 1 p.m. Watch Boise State Football take on the University of Louisville in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Includes free chili and prizes will be awarded to the most spirited guy and gal. Sponsored by ASBSU and the Student Union, the event is free and open to the public. Call 426-4636.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 5
(Photo op) YMCA Youth Government Southwest Regional Convention. Student Union, all day. Co-sponsored by the departments of political science and public policy and administration. Mock government events, speakers. Call 426-1458.

FRIDAY, JAN. 7
Bill Engvall. Morrison Center Main Hall. 8 p.m. Comedian Bill Engvall’s act encompasses insightful material on a wide range of topics including kids, family life and animals. He is best known for his “Here’s Your Sign” routine. Presented by Outback Concerts. Tickets are $31.25 through Select-a-Seat. Call 426-1494.

JAN. 13-16
Idaho Dance Theater. Special Events Center. 8 p.m. Jan 13-15; 2 p.m. Jan. 16. Idaho Dance Theater’s Winter Showcase includes three world premieres: “Dreamtime,” choreographed by Boise State professor Marla Hansen, “Big Top,” choreographed by Carl Rowe and “Skyy,” choreographed by Thax von Reither. Tickets are $20 general, $10 for students and $30 for director’s seating through Select-a-Seat or by calling 331-9592.

FRIDAY, JAN. 14
Ensemble Aranjuez. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m. The Faculty Artists Series presents Ensemble Aranjuez, featuring guitarists Joe Baldassarre, Ryan Nytz and Kelli Larson. Works by J.S. Bach, Boccherini, Hindemith, de Falla, Sor, Dyens and Giuliani. Tickets are $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. Call 426-3980.





JAN. 17-21
Human Rights Week. Boise State University observes Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Human Rights Week with a variety of events centered on the theme “Higher Unlearning.” See events.boisestate.edu for a complete program schedule. Call 426-4636.
    Monday, Jan. 17
Human Rights march to the Statehouse. Meet at the Student Union at 9 a.m. March to Capitol at 10:30 a.m. Rally for human rights on Capitol steps at 11:15 a.m. Free.

“Slam for Justice” poetry slam. Funny Bone Comedy Club, 8th Street Marketplace. 7 p.m. Student and community poets can compete for cash and prizes on the theme of social justice and human rights. $5 general, $3 with Boise State student ID.

Jan 18-21
Educational seminars. Student union Hatch and Farnsworth rooms. Educational workshops, films and more on human rights topics. Free.

Friday, Jan. 21
Keynote address by Martin Luther King III. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 7 p.m. Free tickets will be available at the Student Union Info Desk.
