JAN. 10-14

Bronco Welcome Week. Boise State Student Activities welcomes back students with a week of free events. For a full schedule of activities, go to http://events.boisestate.edu.

Jan. 10-11

The Orientation Program will have information booths set up across campus from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and ASBSU will have hot drinks in the Quad starting at 8 a.m.

 

Thursday, Jan. 13

Coffeehouse Concert Series. Student Union Brava! Stage. 5-7 p.m.

 

Friday, Jan. 14

Late Night Flick. Special Events Center. 10 p.m.

 

Up All Night in the SUB. Student Union. Midnight-2 a.m. Enjoy karaoke, casino games, bingo, dance lessons, games center specials and more. Presented by Student Activities, the Cultural Center and Student Housing.

 

JAN. 13-16

Idaho Dance Theater. Special Events Center. 8 p.m. Jan. 13-15; 2 p.m. Jan. 16. Idaho Dance Theater’s Winter Showcase includes three world premieres: “Dreamtime,” choreographed by Boise State professor Marla Hansen, “Big Top,” choreographed by Carl Rowe and “Skyy,” choreographed by Thax von Reither. Tickets are $20 general, $10 for students and $30 for director’s seating through Select-a-Seat or by calling 331-9592.

 

FRIDAY, JAN. 14

Ensemble Aranjuez. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m. The Faculty Artists Series presents Ensemble Aranjuez, featuring guitarists Joe Baldassarre, Ryan Nytz and Kelli Larson. The ensemble will perform works by J.S. Bach, Boccherini, Hindemith, de Falla, Sor, Dyens and Giuliani. Tickets are $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. Call 426-3980.

 


 
SATURDAY, JAN. 15

Future City competition. Boise State Engineering and Technology Building. Time to be announced. Seventh- and eighth-grade students from around the region compete to design a city using SimCity software and building a model. Sponsored by Student Activities and Boise State’s College of Engineering. For more information, call William Holder at 323-9520.

Human Rights march to the Statehouse. Meet at the Student Union at 9 a.m. March to the Capitol at 10:30 a.m. Rally for human rights on Capitol steps at 11:15 a.m. Free.

 

“Slam for Justice” poetry slam. Funny Bone Comedy Club, 8th Street Marketplace. 7 p.m. Student and community poets can compete for cash and prizes on the theme of social justice and human rights. $5 general, $3 with Boise State student ID.

Educational seminars. Student Union Hatch and Farnsworth rooms. Educational workshops, films and more on human rights topics. Free.

 

Friday, Jan. 21

Keynote address by Martin Luther King III. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 7 p.m. Free tickets will be available at the Student Union Information Desk.
